Last week we sold the apartment! On Monday and Tuesday the apartment was shown to prospective buyers, on Wednesday it was “bidding day” and on Thursday we signed the contract with the buyer! On May 30th we’ll finalize the sell and handover the keys. We have many fun days ahead of us. 🙂
As excited as I am to move it’s a little sad too… we’ve owned the apartment for since 2008 we we came back to Sweden from the US, but I’ve been to it many many times before as it was purchased by my grandparents in the mid 80’s. Can’t help but feel a little sentimental about moving.
Today my hubby, brother and father had the fun job of taking down our wall of bookcases. As it was fixed to the wall we had offered the buyer to keep it but he didn’t need it so away it goes. We’ll try to sell it very cheap (or give it away as long as it’s picked up… haven’t decided which yet).
Spring is finally here! Wood anemones, cherry blossoms, birch pollen and warmer weather! Some things I enjoy more than others! 😉
Today we’ve helping my parents with a little spring cleaning. Or, to be more exact, hubby has while I’ve been sitting by the water enjoying life and documenting progress. For lunch we enjoyed the obligatory grilled sausages.
We’ve had a quite relaxing weekend even though we’ve spent several hours doing some last finish touch-up painting job before selling our apartment. Actually, to be more exact, my hubby has done most of the work as I’m still having issues with my hip after the cortisone shot a few days ago.
Yesterday we had a nice evening with my brother. We BBQ’d and watched the finale of the Swedish selection to the Eurovision Song Contest. Love the song which won!! 🙂 Sanna Nielsen with the song Undo! For dinner my hubby grilled a char stuffed with lemon and dill. I made a roe sauce and we also grilled potato. As my brother don’t eat fish he enjoyed a steak. I’m sure we had a far better dining experience! 😉 The char was so big that we’ve now enjoyed it for three different meals… dinner, breakfast and lunch!
I have now worked a whole week at my new job. I’ve not done much due to the fact that I’m still waiting on getting access to the systems. I’ve surfed on the Intranet and read several documents in order to learn the configuration management process for both the company and for the specific project I’m going to work with. After several months without an assignment at the consulting company where I previously worked I’m so happy to finally have somewhere to go every weekday. I love the fact that I’m now an employee at a company and not a consultant.
The great thing with working is that I enjoy the weekends so much more! 🙂 We started our weekend with visiting hubby’s niece Sandra and her son Charlie. We have not met Charlie since before Christmas so it was finally time for him to get his Christmas present. We had bought a train set from Lego Duplo. He was so excited as soon as he opened the package and noticed it was a train and he started building the track immediately! The rest he needed some help with but after a while the train was running (it moves by itself once you put batteries in the train) and he stood in the middle and just looked at it. So cute! 🙂
Today we’ve enjoyed a fantastic afternoon tea at Cadierbaren. We went there with my mother-in-law. We didn’t tell her in advance where we were going so it was a nice surprise for her. I’ve been to the afternoon tea there a few years ago and it was just as yummy this time around. I also like it because it’s so calm and peaceful in the restaurant even though it’s basically full of people.
Earlier today I got ready for tomorrow’s New Year’s celebration. I had my nails done and went shopping for a new dress. I’m so happy I found THE perfect dress for such an event. Pictures tomorrow…
Our evening today ended in front of the TV watching Peter Jöback. He’s a hugely popular Swedish musical artist and this Fall he traveled throughout Sweden with the show “I love musicals”. Earlier this year he performed the role of Phantom (in the Phantom of the Opera) on Broadway, and before that he played the same role in London. I love his version of Music of the Night. We were supposed to see this show in real life but I got sick so we couldn’t attend. 😦 Luckily for me it was recorded and shown on TV tonight. 🙂
We’ve enjoyed several calm and cozy days celebrating Christmas (and my brother’s birthday) with our family. There have been plenty of good traditional food and fun family times. Here is a bunch of pictures of our Christmas week.
