Reflections of 2012

As always on the last day of the year thoughts of the past year comes into mind.

I’m not much for making resolutions for the new year because let’s face it, it works for a few weeks/months and then its back to normal again. In 2012 though I set up a goal for myself which was to participate in the Vårruset competition. Vårruset is an annual event where females run/walk to the best of their ability 5 kilometers. They have one group that competes and the other merely do it for fun. Vårruset is a tour really as it is held in different cities of Sweden throughout the month of May.

I registered for the event in January but unfortunately I wasn’t able to participate due to my foot problem. So, I’m keeping the goal for 2013. I’ve not registered yet but plan to do it shortly. This time I’ll sign up together with some RA friends so we can walk together. I’ve already asked for vacation the same day as the event as well as the day after.

So what else has happened during 2012?

Despite having major issues with my foot and the problems I had with my joints during the summer I consider this year great as far as my RA goes. Especially during the Fall I’ve felt fantastic and has been able to walk more than I’ve done for a long time. I also stopped with one of my medications (methotrexate) in mid August and was quite worried for awhile that my joints would give me major issue. I’m so happy that its been completely the opposite. I’m feeling much better without it!

2012 came with some major changes related to my job. I had to quit my assignment at a client very suddenly at the end of April due to their financial issues. I was without an assignment for 3,5 months but had some prospects early on in June.

One week after my vacation ended I found myself working in Linköping which meant living away from home during the weekdays. Obviously I knew about the living arrangement before hand and it was hard to make the decision to go for it at first but my wonderful hubby was (and still is) very supportive and encouraged me to do what I thought was best for my career.

It’s been quite a big change to suddenly live by myself and only see my hubby during the weekends. As I really like my work duties it’s been much easier than I thought it would be. My assignment was recently extended to the end of June 2013 and I’m very excited about it!

I also managed to successfully complete all my career goals which is great!

We traveled to 3 places we’ve never been to before which was fantastic! It’s so much fun to see new places and experience new food and cultures. We also visited London again, the first time we’ve been back since we meet each other there in 1999. It won’t be 13 years until I go there again! 🙂

Now 2013 is almost here with lots of wishes and hopes for the future! I’m hoping I will continue to feel great with my RA, that my career follows the positive path it’s going now and that we’ll be able to see new places this year too. One vacation week is already booked… in mid March we’re going to Tenerife! 🙂

Happy New Year!

Happy new year to you, my friend! I hope 2013 is a great year, especially with your RA, the 5km walk and your contract extending to mid year. 🙂 xo
