Week 4 of treatment

Has been a pretty good week despite pain in the morning and not feeling like doing anything until at least lunch time. Monday and Tuesday I felt a bit down for some reason and didn’t feel like doing much at all but I forced myself to complete some of the things on my to-do list. I’ve always had a little of a bad mood in the mornings, but now when I wake up with pain it’s worse than usual. It’s just no fun waking up and not wanting to jump out of bed. The last two days have been much better though and I hope that mood continues on…

This week I’m down to the low dose of 1,5 pills of cortisone which I will continue on with for a while. I’m happy to say that I haven’t felt any worse than I did last week when I took 2 pills each morning so that is a positive thing. This upcoming week I’ll be taking the, from now on, normal dose of the Methotrexate medication. With that being on the level it should be maybe I start feeling less and less of the morning pain and stiffness.

Today I went to an indoor swimming pool center for the first time in years. I thought it would be a good way to get some exercise as being in the water is good on the body. I swam a total of 250 meters (273 yards) which isn’t much but my knee started hurting more so I didn’t want to push myself to hard. I’ll try another time on Monday and hopefully I can swim longer that time. My goal is to swim 2 times a week to start with and depending on what exercises the physical therapist gives me in two weeks maybe I can start doing it 3 times a week.
